2 Peter 2: 15-16
July 21st, 2024, Third Holy Day of the Month
Pastor Tadashi Nagae
The false teachers were following the way of Balaam. We are also in danger of being carried away by greed and following the wrong path. What should we remember in order to avoid this?
The first is to rely on the Lord and let go of greed. Because Balaam was greedy for money, he disobeyed God's words and loved the reward of unrighteousness. Every one of us has our own weak desire. Whenever it is shown to us, we need to rely on the Lord and let go of that greed.
The second is to repent when the Lord leads us to the right path. Just like the Lord tried to lead Balaam to the right path, He leads us to the right path through various things. When He shows us the right way, we must repent.
The third is to follow the path that the Lord walked. The false teachers followed the path of Balaam. They were walking as Balaam walked. Whose path are we to follow? Let us walk just as Jesus walked!
Whose path we follow will make a big difference in our future. Let us follow the path of Jesus and walk in the way that is blessed by the Lord!
<The Word of the Bible>
Forsaking the right way, they have gone astray. They have followed the way of Balaam, the son of Beor, who loved gain from wrongdoing, but was rebuked for his own transgression; a speechless donkey spoke with human voice and restrained the prophet's madness.
