2 Peter 3: 3-4
August 11th, 2024, Second Holy Day of the Month
Pastor Tadashi Nagae
We have just entered the last chapter of the second letter of Peter. He calls the readers “beloved” and describes what we should know.
The first is to watch out the scoffers who scoff the word of God and make us doubt it. This is just the case with the false teachers that we have been learning so far. Also, as the last days are just around the corner, such figures are on the rise. Satan makes us doubt the word of God. We must trust in God’s word.
The second is that God is advancing His plan. Since the word “the last days” is mentioned here, we are able to know that God is advancing His own plan. (i) It is essential for us to look at current days from the viewpoint of “the last days”. We tend to look only at our current affairs, but if we see “the last time” first, and then look at the current days next, we can figure out what we should do now. (ii) It is vital for us to see the vision of ourselves in later days by faith. God is sure to have His own plan and is going to achieve it. Therefore, with faith, we need to see the vision of ourselves and our circumstances in later days.
Let us firmly keep in mind what we should know and walk our lives by faith!
<The Word of the Bible>
knowing this first of all, that scoffers will come in the last days with scoffing, following their own sinful desires. They will say, “Where is the promise of his coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all things are continuing as they were from the beginning of creation.”
