Mark 15:1-20
March 30th 2025, Fifth Holy Day of the Month
 Rev. Tadashi Nagae, Pastor

We are about to have the Easter Resurrection Memorial Worship Service to commemorate the resurrection of the Lord. Through how Jesus came to be crucified, we can learn three things from today’s passage.

First, we should stand on the Lord’s side. Governor Pilate knew that Jesus was innocent, but when he saw that the Jews were about to riot, he sentenced him to death. He stood on Caesar’s side and tried to protect himself. We are also being asked whether we will stand on the side of Jesus or of the world.

Second, we need patience in our steps to follow the Lord. How much was the glorious Son of God mocked and hurt? But the Lord endured in it. We also must remember that we will inevitably suffer and need to endure as we live our lives of faith.

Third, the Lord prepares blessings ahead of our patience. Jesus saw the hope ahead in his suffering that there would be the hope of salvation for those who believe in Christ. We, too, must walk with hope, believing that the Lord prepares blessings for us ahead of our patience.

We need patience in the Lord. Let us rely on the Lord, imitate Him as we walk with patience!
