Matthew 9: 35-38
February 9th 2025, Second Holy Day of the Month
Michio Harikae, Evangelist
Let us learn three things to remember for "rising up for the harvest".
First, the Lord had compassion on the crowds. The Lord's deep mercy was so great, like his internal organs were squeezed, that He gave his own life. Because of his mercy, we have been saved. Let us be thankful for this, first and foremost. And let us remember that his mercy is poured, not only into us, but into all people.
Second, it is to see the harvest field with the eyes of the Lord. As those who have received Jesus’ mercy first, it is important also for us to see the people around us, that is, the harvest field, as the Lord sees them. They are away from the Lord, their shepherd, and they are harassed and helpless. Let us be such ones, who believe the Lord’s word "the harvest is plentiful", and tell the people around us of the Lord's mercy!
Third, let us rise up for the harvest! The Lord's will is that each of us will rise up for the harvest and take a new step. There must be something for each one of us, something we can do for the Lord's harvest, or something being told by the Lord. Let us pray that "laborers" will be sent! And let us also become laborers in the Lord's harvest!
<The Word of the Bible>
Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest."
Matthew 9: 37-38 (English Standard Version)
