2 Peter 1:16-18
June 9th 2024, Second Holy Day of the month
Pastor Tadashi Nagae

We will learn two things from today’s section.

The first is to testify the hope in Christ. Peter had repeatedly preached the power and the comings of the Lord Jesus Christ in the First Letter of Peter. For his first time, The Lord came in order to die as a substitute for mankind. For his second time, he is coming as a king to build his country and reign it on earth. We need to hold the hope fast and convey it to others.

The second is to be living witnesses. Seemingly those who were against Peter criticized his story as a fiction. But he testified that he and his comrades had witnessed the majesty of Christ. Although we have never seen the Lord with our eyes, how can we testify him with firm belief? One answer is to read the Scripture. Because it was written by those who had seen the Lord and experienced his works. Another answer is to experience the works of the Lord who lives. It is true that having a faith is the most essential, but it is also vital to follow the words, and to experience the living Lord. Then, we will become living witnesses with more steadfast faith.

We, too, are the witnesses of Jesus Christ. Let us testify him to others!

<The Word of the Bible>
For we did not follow cleverly devised myths when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty.
