Zechariah 4:1-14
March 9th 2025, Second Holy Day of the Month
Rev. Tadashi Nagae, Pastor

We will learn from the fifth vision that God showed to Zechariah. The word was spoken to Zerubbabel, the leader whom the LORD had appointed for the reconstruction of the temple.

First, it is to walk strengthened by the Spirit of God. The construction was halted due to the obstruction of the enemies around them, but the LORD taught the leader Zerubbabel to do it by the Spirit of God, not by human might or power. It is important also for us to move forward filled with the Spirit of God, not by human strength.

Second, it is always to see God’s grace and rely on it. God said that He shall make a great mountain a plain. It was God’s grace. It is important for us always to see God’s grace and rely on it.

Third, it is to walk without losing heart, remembering that the Lord who travels through the whole earth is watching. God said, “whoever has despised the day of small things”. The situation was like that at first, but the LORD, who travels through all the earth, was watching and completed the construction.

We should not be discouraged either, by looking at our only current situation, but should walk trusting in the LORD who sees everything, strengthens us, and leads us to completion. Let us walk filled with the Spirit of the LORD, not relying on our own might or power!

Then he said to me, “This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel: Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the LORD of hosts.
