Luke 23: 32-43
April 13th 2025, Second Holy Day of the Month
 Rev. Tadashi Nagae, Pastor

Jesus without sin was crucified. We will learn three of the seven words that Jesus spoke on the cross.

First is the word of his prayer, Father, forgive them. (Luke 23: 34) He interceded for those who were tormenting, mocking, and trying to kill him. We should not think of this prayer as something like the matter of others. In a broader sense, that prayer was also a prayer for us.

Second is the word, Woman, behold, your son! (John 19:26) In his suffering, Jesus was concerned about his mother Mary. He entrusted her to John.

Third is the word, My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? (Matthew 27:46,Mark15:34) Jesus, who was in a parent child relationship, was abandoned by God the Father and judged as a sinner. That was how much He loved us and tried to save us.

Let us remember that even today, with his words of love, the Lord intercedes for us, cares for us, and speaks to us. Let us also be such ones who intercede for people around us with such words of love!

<The Word of the Bible>
And Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.” And they cast lots to divide his garments.
