Mark 15:20-35
April 6th 2025, First Holy Day of the Month
 Rev. Tadashi Nagae, Pastor

After the death sentence was handed down, Jesus walked to the place of execution and was crucified. We learn three things from this section:

First, we should believe things not because we saw them, but believe even without seeing them. The chief priests said that they would believe Jesus if they saw Him come down from the cross. Even if He had actually come down from the cross, they wouldn’t have believed. Blessed are those who believe in the Lord’s promises and follow Him even if they don’t see them.

Second, the Lord’s suffering was also God’s plan. God knew that Jesus would be mocked and tormented to such an extent, and it was in His plan. The Lord knew everything and proceeded to the cross to die. That was how much He loved us and wanted to save us.

Third, it is a blessing to suffer for the sake of the Lord. Simon the Cyrene was forced to carry the cross on behalf of Jesus and walked to the place of execution. He went through suffering for the Lord. What do we think of suffering for the sake of the Lord?

The new fiscal year has begun. We are the ones who choose what steps to take. Let us be willing to dedicate ourselves and suffer for the sake of Him who suffered and died for us!

<The Word of the Bible>
And they compelled a passerby, Simon of Cyrene, who was coming in from the country, the father of Alexander and Rufus, to carry his cross.
