James 3: 1-10
October 13th 2024, Second Holy Day of the Month
Tadashi Nagae, Pastor

The Bible teaches us how to tame our words.

First, we need to remember that words have a great influence. Words can build people up, but they can also hurt their hearts. We should be careful with our words, but we cannot control them by our own strength. We also need to remember that speaking bad words is a sin before God.

How can we control our words?
-First, let the Holy Spirit control our hearts. The Lord said that the mouth
speaks what is in our heart. When the heart is controlled by the Holy Spirit,
we can speak words that are self-controlled.
-Second, we should try to speak such words that are kind and help people grow.
-Third, we should pray to the Lord. We need to recognize our own weakness
in words and pray to the Lord.

From the cross, the Lord spoke words full of love and forgiveness. Because of his words, we were able to receive the great blessing of salvation. As those who have received words of grace and mercy, let us be such ones who speak kind and useful words that make people grow, in the church and in the places where we are sent!

<The Word of the Bible>
but no human being can tame the tongue.
It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison.
James 3: 8 (English Standard Version)
