2 Peter 3: 5-9
August 18th 2024, Third Holy Day of the Month
Pastor Tadashi Nagae
In today's passage, the word “overlook” appears twice. There are several things we must not overlook in our walks of life.
The first is that all things are formed and kept by the word of God. God created and keeps heaven, earth, and all things by His Word. We must not overlook the fact that all things are in God's hands, including our lives and livelihood. Therefore, let us walk in the fear of the LORD.
The second is to view the time with God's perspective. The Lord's second coming is not yet, but he is not slowing to fulfill his promise. God sees one day as a thousand years and a thousand years as one day. It is important to view time from God's perspective rather than to view it narrowly.
The third is that God is patient for the salvation of all people. God wants everyone to be saved, and He is patient now. Having been entrusted with the gospel, it is important for us to remember and witness God's patience.
Everyone has some things that he/she overlooks. If we are made aware of them by the Word of God, let us repent and walk in the will of the Lord!
<The Word of the Bible>
But do not overlook this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
