Matthew 6:9
June 16th 2024, Third Holy Day of the month
Pastor Tadashi Nagae
This is where Jesus taught His disciples how to pray. He told them to start the prayer by saying, "Our Father in heaven." It is surprising for us to know that we should say "Our Father" as the first word we pray. But we, who believed in Jesus Christ, are regarded as children of God.
The first thing we should remember is that we pray to our perfect Father in heaven. We pray not to our imperfect fathers on earth, but to the perfect Father in heaven. He is the omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent, holy, and loving One who created heaven and earth and all things. That is why we can truly trust in Him. We can regard Him as our Father, and talk to Him.
The second thing we should remember is that we pray to our own Father. We are allowed to pray not to someone else’s father, but to our own Father and regard Him as our own. We must fear Him, but at the same time, we can talk to Him saying, “Abba, Father!” God loves us as His children and keeps His eyes on us. Also, it is important to pray together to Him as our Father at church.
We, who are saved, have become children of God! Let us remember that how great the blessing is, and pray and have fellowship with God the Father more boldly and frequently!
<The Word of the Bible>
Pray then like this: Father in heaven, hallowed be your name.
